Hydro Kitchen Transformation
Lead Designer: Lindsey Coleman
Project Date: January 2023
Project Budget: $87,000
Project Overview
After a negative experience with a contractor in the past, it was an honor that the Hydro family trusted G Contracting to bring the vision for their home to life.
The goal for this family was to open the space up and bring the kitchen current, all while maintaining the charm of their early 1920s home.
Our senior designer, Lindsey, got to work on a new layout that would provide functionality for everyone. We removed the wall that was separating the dining room and kitchen, allowing for a much more desirable open concept. All of the finish materials were carefully hand selected so this brand new space felt like it always belonged in this older home.
Classic white subway tile, brass cabinet hardware and fixtures, Oak accent island cabinetry with a rich stain to match existing millwork throughout the home, and a large farmhouse sink are a few of the items that really assisted in tying the whole project together.
At the end of the project, the homeowner couldn’t be more thrilled with the outcome. We were able to complete this project a few days shy of our projected end date, even with some items added during construction.
Project Highlights
Large island
With the Silestone Quartz in Ethereal Glow, we were able to obtain a “Jumbo Slab”. This island is the largest you can get with NO seam, measuring in at an astounding 5’x7’.
Range wall focal point
The range wall turned into a beautiful feature in this kitchen! A geometric tile backsplash inlay and wooden range hood brought modern features to a space we wanted to feel authentic.
Hallway to closet conversion
In reconfiguring the layout for this design, one of the homeowner’s wishes was to “add a coat closet to the right of the back door.” To achieve this, we framed an existing closet to make room for the refrigerator's new home. We then utilized the door from the prior closet to close the new closet off from the kitchen. This has turned into the perfect mudroom for the family!
The Hydro Family
The Hydro family hired G Contracting to bring the kitchen of their dreams to life. We had so much fun working in their early 1920s home. Thank you Kate and David for trusting us!
Inspiration to Reality
“Jim arrived and immediately I was like, “I’m sold!” because he was just so organized and detailed in the process for what was going to happen which is what was lacking in anybody else that we experienced. - Kate Hydro”
